Sports background:
Gymnastics, Soccer, Lacrosse, Track and Field
Other Interests:
I like to shop. I’m super interested in fashion. I love trying new things. I recently tried out surfing (I took some lessons in Mexico) and really really enjoyed that. I like kite surfing as well, though I don’t get to do that as often.
Your favorite thing about skiing/ski racing:
That feeling you get when you accomplish something you’ve been striving for, no matter how big or how small.
What has your sport taught you?
That failure is part of any journey you embark on. Succeeding is about overcoming those bumps in the road.
What inspires/motivates you?
Watching my teammates succeed. I think that being surrounded by so many talented athletes has helped me push myself more on and off the hill. They’re also a great support system for me.
Power fuel of choice:
I like to eat yogurt and oatmeal in the morning before training. I find that clif bars and clif energy blocks really help me through a training session on the hill and in the gym.
Favorite workout or exercise:
I really enjoy mountain biking. I think it’s a great form of exercise, but is also incredibly enjoyable. I’ve also recently started getting into road biking, and have found that it’s also very fun as well as difficult.
Your most valuable mental skills and why:
I struggle with my nerves and overthinking things. Whether it’s before a ski race or before physical testing, I am always psyching myself out. Through meditation, I’ve slowly learned how to subside those emotions. Knowing that you are in control of your mind and your body is something that has helped keep me calm before races/tests. I still work on that everyday, it is an ongoing process.
Favorite ski resort in the US:
Alta/Snowbird, UT
Favorite race venue in the world:
Flachau, Austria
My Advice to Jr Athletes:
To be at the highest level of any sport takes a lot of persistence; it’s a marathon not a sprint.
My Motto:
“We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.” - Maya Angelou. I also like the saying “tomorrow is another day”.
