From the time I could walk, I was skiing and fell in love with the speed, thrill, teamwork, competition and fun of Ski Racing. I pursued my dream of becoming the fastest Downhiller in the world, competed in two Olympic Games as well as two World Championships. In 1985 I won the first ever medal at the Worlds for an American male in the Downhill! An exciting moment representing the USA. I retired from competition at 25 years old and threw myself into College and Coaching. Then in 1990, along with my wife Kelley, we started ELITEAM fitness camps teaching young athletes the importance of becoming complete athletes by focusing on the skills of Sports Physiology, Psychology and Nutrition.

For 30 years we have devoted ourselves to inspiring and educating junior athletes,  giving them the skills to push their limits and pursue their goals. Although our ELITEAM Alums include Olympic Champions, World Junior Champions, and NCAA All Americans, we are most proud of the way ALL ELITEAMers leave our camps and programs... with the courage to pursue their dreams with passion and confidence!

The best part of my job at ELITEAM is seeing young athletes COMMIT to their goals, whatever they may be. That commitment allows them to let go of worry and negative thoughts, and motivates them to take risks, work hard and have fun! This new Dig Deep Academy takes our program a BIG step forward in two ways. First, we can now reach 1000s of athletes instead of only a few hundred each year. Secondly, this program dives deeper into both the Physical and the Educational aspects and provides ELITEAMers with more fuel for their fire!

When I am not coaching, I am outside and moving - either skiing or running or biking. In the past 10 years I have committed to seeing how far I can push my body in ultra-running and, so far, have finished three 100 mile running races. Each one challenged me and pushed me to my limits. But in each, I was able to dig deep and find the strength and grit to finish. I am so lucky to have Kelley by my side keeping me honest in my training, prepared for anything, and always at the finish with a big hug no matter my time or place.

Good to be here!
I am so excited for the Dig Deep Academy as I think it can bring junior athletes together and arm them with the skills and confidence to push their limits farther than they ever had.

My motto:
If you’re going to do something, then do it right!

My advice to Jr athletes:
Dream big as goals keep you pointed in the right direction, but most importantly to commit to those goals with every fiber of your being as that makes all the tough times easy and enjoyable.
